Clueless and Happy.

Me(7), in my Grandma's kitchen

I got an interesting email forwarded to me yesterday from a friend/fellow business owner.

The subject was "How to grow your Business and get more followers on Instagram."

Intrigued, I opened it.

And I'll just tell you, I'm not doing a whole lot of what this article suggests. 😳😆

"Don't talk about your personal life more than your products"

Yeah...FAIL.

"Post often but only at high impact times."

I'm guessing all the midnight posts wouldn't fall under this suggestion...😂

"Research hashtag popularity in your field."

Umm, I've never had a knack for this and when I'm getting ready to post I usually have to force myself to think about what to hashtag...but the only things that come up are the same 3 I ALWAYS use...so, zero creativity and effort there. 👍🏻😂

I'm guessing this means my little biz isn't "successful" by the standards in the article.

But I've never had hopes of creating a ginormous number of followers or being "insta-famous".

What you will see on social media from me?

I wear my heart on my sleeve and love to talk and write about it. I'm okay with being myself and not portraying an image that isn't me. I love that whoever follows me knows that I'm a total dork who is wordy, emotional and just happens to like making pretty things too. I will be real and if that means a photo of my messy desk and talking about how I've lost all motivation, then so be it. 😆 I love to share other makers and businesses with others that I love--because that is what it's all about. It's not about competition. It's not about who's got more followers or who's got more likes (though it's really easy to get caught up in that--I get it, you guys). It's about being in a community, encouraging others, celebrating ALL, building each other up and just being grateful for what you have and where YOU are in the journey. And that's the part of social media in business I LOVE.

So, when you read a post from me, just picture this girl in the pic. That's me. I was 7 years old, in my Grandma's kitchen, likely getting in the way of the grown ups who were preparing a meal. But if you'll notice, I'm absolutely clueless. 😂 I was just enjoying life, laughing and who doesn't love that feeling??! It's kinda how I feel when the drama & stress of social media starts to creep in. Just let it go, do your thing and the good is sure to follow. ❤️
