Be impeccable with your word.

In the ever-growing world of social media and the fact that with the simple ease of clicking a Share or Publish button, our newsfeeds can be full of negative, ugly images & words that are shared, that can ruffle our feathers.

It used to be really hard for me to stay silent. I felt the need to comment or voice my own thoughts, opinions, views or feelings—especially when what someone was sharing seemed hurtful, unkind or unjust. I simply didn’t understand why people would be so cruel and quick to judge/criticize/marginalize those who thought differently from them. And because I’m a big-feels kind of person, it started to impact how I felt towards some of the people I knew who were constanatly sharing & posting such things.

But then, I started reading ‘The Four Agreements’ again, and it put me back on track to living the life I wanted to live. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the book, these are the 4 “agreements” that we are encouraged to live out in our daily lives:

1) Be impeccable with your word.

2) Don't take anything personally.

3) Don't make assumptions.

4) Always do your best.

That #1 there—it’s HUGE, guys. I dare you to try it for a day—because it’s so much harder to truly carry out than it sounds.

What does it mean to ‘be impeccable with your word’? The author describes it as this:

“Be Impeccable with your word: speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love."

Such truth. And can you imagine if we all carried our our days in this manner?? If we only spoke out in love, and not the opposite? 💗

Here’s to Thursday—make it a great one.💗 #beimpeccable #onlylove #bekind #bethegood
